Chabot Space & Science Center is the continuation and expansion of a public
observatory that has served San Francisco Bay Area schools and citizens with astronomy
and science education programs for 125 years. Chabot features a world-class planetarium,
interactive exhibits, hands-on science activities and the only research-level telescopes
regularly available to the public for live viewing in the Western U.S.
Our mission is to inspire and educate students of all ages about our Planet Earth
and the Universe. Over 155,000 visitors including 50,000 students are served by
Chabot annually, supplementing and often replacing, the science programs taught
in the public schools.
The Chabot Space & Science Center Foundation is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3)
not-for-profit organization. Donations to Chabot are tax-deductible to the full
extent of the law.
